Kurzfassung

At the Institute for Visualization and Interactive Systems (VIS), a multi-volume visualization application was implemented and developed based on Graphics Processing Unit techniques to visualize multiple volumes in one scene. That is dorre by dynamically generating pieces of shader code from pre-defined render nodes. The tool provides a user interface and special functionalities for the interactivity of the user with the visualized scene. However, extending the tool with new render nodes was still a difficult task for the programmer because of the need of deep examination of the tool's source code. For this, a generic extension concept has been applied by adding features to the application in a standardized manner to help minimizing the effort and avoiding the redundancy of the code each time a new render node is implemented and integrated to the application. These features extended the application to allow for standardization to help the programmer focus on the specific tasks to be added while keeping more general tasks transparent.
