Abstract

With increasing demand of deploying applications in microservice environments in the last years, many software developers have to adapt to the arising challenges. One of the challenges of microservices is the newly introduced communication and the increased network complexity. Visualizing the communication occurring within the environment can make it easier to comprehend. There are many existing tools that help visualizing microservices. A selection of those tools are evaluated in this work using a sample PoC application in Google Kubernetes Engine regarding their integration effort and visualization features. Open source solutions require more setup effort to achieve comparable features while commercial tools are more polished and easier to set up.
