Abstract

Emotion Recognition in Software Engineering is a huge research area in which different methods are used and experimented on to identify emotions. To test if these methods work, studies have to be done. However, there is still a lot of research to be done, and this field’s future is still unknown. The following mapping study will summarize the current and future directions of Emotion Recognition in Software Engineering. Through a systematic mapping study, a total of 51 papers have been selected from an initial set of 1893 papers. This mapping study furthermore shows the results of what methods and tools of Emotion Recognition in Software Engineering are currently used, what the most frequently applied methods and tools of Emotion Recognition in Software Engineering are, what type of research studies on Emotion Recognition in Software Engineering where carried out, and in which forums these researches to Emotion Recognition in Software Engineering where published. This mapping study will also give a general overview of the frequency of published papers for the topic of this thesis.
