Kurzfassung

Taking wrist rehabilitation sessions is a crucial part of the post-stroke rehabilitation process to foster recovery. The conventional exercises performed at rehabilitation centers with physiotherapists are called Range of Motion (ROM) exercises. They consist of a set of rotational movements around the wrist joint. During traditional rehabilitation sessions, physiotherapists use a Goniometer Ruler to measure joint limits and range of motion. Between the regular sessions with the physiotherapists, patients are asked to continue the exercises at home. However, they often lack motivation as well as the necessary guidance to perform the movements correctly, which can lead to postponing the recovery and may lead to serious problems. By using a smartwatch to address the issue of lack of support with at-home rehabilitation, a new problem arises: Guiding the patient during these exercises is problematic due to the occlusion of the smartwatch screen. Therefore, combining and extending the smartwatch screen with a smartphone or an augmented reality-based solution are potential options to overcome this problem. For this research two separate applications were built. The first application mirrors the visualization of the smartwatch to the smartphone, second is an AR application built to run on a smartphone, which is housed inside a Google Cardboard. To evaluate and compare the developed solutions, a study is conducted in which the three conditions will be analyzed.
