Kurzfassung

Recently more and more enterprises need to improve their business processes in the struggle to be competitive. In this area the use of Workflow Management Systems (WfMS) proved very helpful. The WfMS ensures the correct execution of previously modelled business processes. However the modelling of business processes is often a long and cost intensive task. To improve the efficiency of the WfMS it is advisable to do continuous reengineering to constantly check and improve the system.

This work presents the approach of using OLAP technology to do continuous reengineering and compares OLAP with data mining showing the advantages of OLAP for this task. By analysing Audit-Trails written by already executed workflows, it is possible to detect problems within the basic model of the business process. After having analysed audit data, the existing workflow models can be improved. Therefore it is not necessary to define a workflow model perfectly because it is possible to improve it later. This approach offers the possibility to increase the advantages you get by using a WfMS.

This work shows the possibilities of an analysis using OLAP technology. IBM's MQSeries Workflow shows exemplarily the possibilities of an OLAP analyses.
