Kurzfassung

This diploma thesis can be divided into two steps. In the first step, we implement an executable BPEL process controlling the ETL process with the help of the Eclipse BPEL Designer and then deploy it into the Apache Orchestration Director Engine (ODE), in order to prove the feasibility of controlling the ETL process through a BPEL process. The second step is to propose a system model to realize a highly configurable ETL process. This system model utilizes the Web Services to compose a distributed ETL environment. The configuration mechanism is realized via the extension activity in an abstract BPEL process, which enables a business person with little knowledge of BPEL to adapt an ETL process in order to fulfill the new requirements. The abstract ETL BPEL process designed by the ETL process designer will be automatically converted to an executable ETL BPEL process and then deployed into the Apache ODE environment.
