Abstract

Virtual enterprises need collaborative business processes management. When facing multiple participants involved in the same business process, providing necessary information to the business partners and allowing them to adapt process parts is critical to effective process management. Given the complexity of processes capturing real-world process semantics, it is a highly sought-after feature to create views, partial processes derived from a base process to provide process abstraction and to hide confidential information from business partners. WS-BPEL defines a standard for executable business processes. The BPEL specification also introduces the concept of abstract processes, which provide multiple ways to hide information in a process. This work describes a novel concept to derive views from BPEL processes. The concept uses techniques known from Model Driven Development to provide both a very high-level and a more low-level approach to derive views from a base process.
