Abstract

Eye-tracking is today an important tool in the cognitive sciences. By using eye-tracking researchers can record and analyze the interactions between humans and computers. In particular, the eye movements of study participants are recorded. This leads to large amounts of data when conducting eye tracking studies that have both a spatial and a temporal nature. The AOI Rivers offer a good opportunity to observe the dynamic behavior of groups of study participants. Hereby we can easily explore, how the frequency of eye movements changed over time, i.e. the number of views and from which AOIs they move from to which other AOIs. The goal of this diploma thesis is the development of visualization techniques for the views of stimulus, heat map and gaze plot. Furthermore, the visualization tool supports the interactions between the selected data from a given stimulus, heat map, and gaze plot and user-defined AOIs. The number of river crosses and intersections in is reduced or minimized by some crossing minimization algorithm. Finally, the storage of the user defined sections of data will be supported to allow a later inspection of the already explored data without starting from the beginning again.
