Abstract

Service-oriented computing is nowadays a rising technology to implement business processes in an efficient and flexible manner. This technology has a great impact on manufacturing environments. The realization of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) with a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) has many benefits. Some advantages are a seamless and flexible integration of all applications within PLM, including legacy systems, improved data provisioning and a reduced complexity by using a common service-based integration middleware, such as the Manufacturing Service Bus (MSB). In this paper the integration of the MSB into the service-oriented PLM approach will be described in detail.
