Kurzfassung

Creating Internet of Things systems is a complex challenge as it involves both software and hardware, and because it touches on constrained devices and networks, storage, analytics, automation, and many other topics. This is further complicated by the large number of available technologies and the variety of different protocols and standards. To help with the ensuing confusion, we presented Internet of Things Patterns in several categories, such as device communication and management, energy supply types, and operation modes. These patterns describe abstract solutions to common problems and can be used to understand and design Internet of Things systems. In this paper, we show that these patterns can be applied to Smart Factory systems, which is one of the many domains where the Internet of Things is applicable.
