Abstract | Serverless computing has reached a degree of maturity that leads to many providers establishing themselves on the market with their own platform offerings. Although companies would benefit from using these offerings, the risk of locking applications into the provider’s ecosystem is still a crucial aspect that influences the final decision on whether to adopt serverless to their business. Consequently, it is desirable to support developers in moving applications, which are already deployed on one serverless platform, to another in order to reduce the restraint of using these platform offerings. In this work, we develop methods on how to support developers in porting existing serverless applications from one provider to another and conceptualize them into a common framework. Furthermore, we describe a conceptual system architecture for implementing the introduced concepts and validate it by means of a prototypical implementation. Finally, we conduct a case study which showcases the prototypical framework in a real world scenario.
