| Kurzfassung | Provisioning covers all necessary actions which have to be completed prior to performing a more complex computing task. This paper will introduce the problems targeted by provisioning in the scope of IT systems. Further it will depict the evolution of provisioning processes and show what new business models namely Infrastructure and Software as a Service are enabled by it.
