Abstract

Abstract In this work the functionality of a modern handwriting recognition system is explained. The need for a good punctuation detection is brie y motivated. Experiments to enhance the performance of the system on the detection of punctuation marks are developed and analysed. Finally, the unsatisfying results of these experiments are discussed and new ideas for future research are sketched.
