| Kurzfassung | The performance degradation in multiprocessor systems by input/output has been investigated again theoretically for a linear systems configuration and by experiment with programs in a functional language on a Transputer multi- processor systems of up to 16 modules. Processing the results from our exper- iments shows excellent correlation with the theory and a performance degrada- tion of up to an order of magnitude, depending on systems configuration and problem type.
