Perform lexical analysis: identify tokens in the source file and return them to the Parser subprogram. The subprograms in package LEX are used to sequentially read a source file and identify lexical units (tokens) in the file. Comments and error messages are saved. ABSTRACTIONS is used by NOSC/WIS tools 5.1.1, 5.1.2, 6.1.2, and 6.2. See also NEW_ABSTRACTIONS.
