FOF is a component used to create formatted reports. It allows the user to specify the layout of the report (including 0 to 8 header lines, 0 to 8 footer lines, page number format, centering, bold facing, underlining, and other attributes), and the user may then send output to the report a word or a line at a time (if filling is enabled) or a line at a time (if filling is disabled). FOF automatically outputs the heading and the footer, numbers the pages, and performs other functions as the output is generated. FOF is implemented as an abstract data type, allowing as many output files, each with their own layout, to be concurrently generated as desired.
