The NASA/GFSC (NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center) Standard Ada Pretty Printer is a tool developed by the Data Systems Technology Division of the Mission Operations and Data Systems Directorate, NASA/GFSC. This tool implements many of the directives in the Proposed MIL-HDBK-1804, "Ada Style Guide." This project began in early 1986 as an Ada learning project in the Simulations Operations Control Center (SOC) at Goddard Space Flight Center. Through the process of writing a parse table generator and Ada syntax file, the tool's author was able to learn many of the intricacies of Ada he might have otherwise missed in years of development projects. The standards implemented by the tool are directly taken from the Ada Style Guide (Software Engineering Laboratory Series SEL-87-002) produced by the Ada Standards Committee of the Ada Users Group at NASA/GFSC. This guide is the basis of the proposed MIL-HDBK-1804. The files associated with this tool include: NAPPCO.SRC -- compilation scripts (compilation order) NAPPDOC.SRC -- documentation NAPPDAT.SRC -- data files used to generate parse tables NAPPTBL.SRC -- software used to generate parse tables NAPPSRC.SRC -- source code All files are PAGER files. Only NAPPCO and NAPPSRC are required to compile the tool using internal parse tables. If your Ada compiler does not have the capacity to compile the large parse tables required, use NAPPDAT and NAPPTBL to make the parse tables external to the program. A machine-readable copy of the MIL-HDBK-1804 is available in the PMH1804.* files. The file NAPP.ZIP in the MSDOS archives contains a readme file and a self-extracting EXE file which extracts into all the files needed to run the pretty printer on an IBM PC or clone. No source is in NAPP.ZIP; source is only in the ASR. NAPP.ZIP contains executables which are ready to run on the PC.
