These files are Newsletters on the Ada Software Repository and
associated activities. They are packed with useful information and
are recommended reading for all users of the Ada Software Repository.
The ASR Newsletters may be obtained from the PD2:
subdirectory of the ASR or users may subscribe to have them delivered
by conventional mail (at no charge if you work as a part of an
organization in the US government or for a minor fee if not).
In order to subscribe for mail delivery of the newsletters,
write or telephone the ASR Support Contractor (see the file
ASRSUPP.DOC in PD2:).
New Format for ASR Newsletters
==============================
All ASR Newsletters starting with Issue 201 (September, 1989)
will be prepared using the Portable Text Formatter (PTF). Both the
raw PTF input file and the formatted newsletter output file will be
stored in the directory PD2: for the time being. By
changing a couple of lines at the front of the raw PTF file, the
newsletter can be reformatted to different dimensions. This allows
users who find the selected format of the newsletter inconvenient to
reformat the newsletter as their needs dictate.
This new approach also adds a new feature: a comprehensive index.
Starting with this issue of the ASR Newsletter, an index of the
newsletters will be maintained. Each time a new newsletter is issued,
this index will be updated to cover it and all preceeding newsletters
of the series. The first index is released with this newsletter and
contains information on issue 201 only. The file ASRNI.DOC (for ASR
Newsletter Index) is the formatted index.
For those users who wish to see how PTF is used to create the
newsletters and this index, the PTF templates for doing this are in
the file ASRNEWS.SRC.
