This is an electronic reprint of the "Ada 95 Reference Manual: Language and Standard Libraries" with HTML annotations and a hypertext structure created by Magnus Kempe. This hypertext document is a transmogrified version of the revised international standard (ISO/IEC 8652:1995): Information Technology -- Programming Languages -- Ada. The entry point is the table of contents (TOC), with three "zoom levels." All cross-references (to clauses, paragraphs, etc.) in the text and index have become links which will take you to the appropriate parts when followed. The text of the reference manual is formatted and all paragraphs are numbered in order to reflect the structure of the paper version. The presentation will of course slightly differ from that of the paper version, first because some formatting information has been lost in the process of going from Scribe to ASCII to HTML, and second because your WWW browser provides you with a particular, possibly quite limited, view of this document. The package is subdivided into hypertext "pages," one page for each section, annex, clause, and subclause. This guarantees that when you access a new page you will not wait forever to download and display it. The index of the reference manual has been subdivided into sections by alphabetical order. All entries are links to the corresponding paragraphs of the document. On all pages of this package (sections, annexes, clauses, and subclauses), you will find some links at the top and bottom. They provide a structure for systematic navigation in the reference manual. NOTE: The PAL directory display on this asset is abbreviated due to its length.
March 1995, version 1.0 Magnus Kempe First release of the package corresponding to the revised Ada standard
This package may be freely copied and distributed, if accompanied by this statement, and provided that integral copies of all files are included (i.e. no change whatsoever is allowed). You are asked to help keep the hypertext annotations consistent, identical everywhere in the world. If you think something needs to be modified, tell the author what and why. Copies of the package are allowed but not recommended on other anonymous FTP sites. Copies are NOT allowed on government-subsidized FTP/WWW sites which require registration and accounts. This package is intended exclusively for local installation; individual files extracted from the package may NOT be exported outside of a site (e.g. company or university) with FTP/WWW servers other than the Home of the Brave Ada Programmers (HBAP). You may not sell these hypertext annotations but you may include and use them in an application. There are no royalties for such uses of the annotations; the author only asks that any documentation acknowledge that it includes or uses the hypertext annotations developed by him.
THERE IS NO WARRANTY FOR THIS PACKAGE, TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW. THE COPYRIGHT HOLDER PROVIDES THE PACKAGE "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. IN NO EVENT WILL THE COPYRIGHT HOLDER BE LIABLE TO YOU FOR DAMAGES, INCLUDING ANY GENERAL, SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF THE USE OR INABILITY TO USE THE PACKAGE (INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF DATA OR DATA BEING RENDERED INACCURATE OR LOSSES SUSTAINED BY YOU OR THIRD PARTIES OR A FAILURE OF THE PACKAGE TO OPERATE WITH ANY OTHER PROGRAMS), EVEN IF SUCH HOLDER OR OTHER PARTY HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
