abstract = {In the problem of motion control for mobile robots, typically only the
kinematic model is used, assuming that there is a dynamic controller that can
produce perfect velocity tracking. However, when the dynamic model of the robot
is considered, exact knowledge about its parameters is almost unattainable in
practical situations. In this paper, a novel recurrent neural network called
Echo-State Network is used to develop a dynamic-level controller, without
knowledge about the robot parameters. The control approach has been
experimentally tested on an omnidirectional mobile robot available at the
Robotics Lab of the University of Stuttgart.},

abstract = {In this paper, we address aspects of the challenge facing the Data Integration
solutions in the problem of increasing the scalability. We first overview our
results in data integration and present our prototype. Searching for a
motivation to employ the agent-based technology and envision how this
technology can be applied to improve the system scalability represent the next
step of our research. For that, we examine some formal definitions and metrics
of scalability which fit the purpose of system description. The analysis of our
data integration solution, a change propagation system called Champagne,
identifies the system components having the most influence on the scalability
problem. We propose to employ the agent-based technology to improve the
scalability and perform some experiments which reveal our work.},

abstract = {This paper presents a new approach to the challenging task of lane recognition
on general roads. Lane recognition is the basis for many driver assistance
systems, including Lane Departure Warning and the assignment of vehicles to
speci c lanes. Most systems of the past are designed for the well de ned
highway scenario. They rely on white lane markings with known geometric
appearance. Our method is an extension which also works when lane markings are
in bad conditions or are missing completely. We use re- ection posts as a means
of estimating the course of the road. In addition we are furthermore able to
measure the horizontal and vertical slope of the road surface.},

abstract = {Using a one-dimensional dynamical system, representing a Poincare return map
for dynamical systems of the Lorenz type, we investigate the border-collision
period-doubling bifurcation scenario. In contrast to the classical
period-doubling scenario, this scenario is formed by a sequence of pairs of
bifurcations, whereby each pair consists of a border-collision bifurcation and
a pitchfork bifurcation. The characteristic properties of this scenario, like
symmetry-breaking and symmetry-recovering as well as emergence of coexisting
attractors and noninvariant attractive sets, are investigated.},
