As a trend of development, automotive manufactures face problems of heterogeneous software, in which software grows in size and varies in real-time characteristics [Broy][Brob]. In parallel, multi-/many-core architecture is introduced in automotive Electronic Control Unit (ECU), which can perform multiple task processing simultaneously. With highly potential processing power, multi-/many-core architecture becomes day by day main stream in automotive hardware design. Along with the new hardware architecture, a rising question is how to make use of the new powerful computing power, when heterogeneous software is integrated to the new hardware. Concerning above industry problems, this thesis will show analyses on scheduling mechanisms with respect to core utilization and real-time constraints. Because global scheduling is not optimal and difficult to implement in real-time system [BGca], local scheduling on single core will be examined. As a result, a scheduling algorithm set, which is called Reservation-Based Scheduling (RBS), will be examined. To illustrate RBS algorithms can solve automotive integration problems, an abstract simulation framework was realized to analyze the impact of the integration mechanisms with RBS on automotive systems. The thesis output would be a tool-chain for analyzing scheduling performance and configuration guideline for a RBS algorithm set.
